1 Hotel Haitang Bay is the first Chinese property from the US-based 1 Hotels brand — the same outfit behind green luxury outposts in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Miami Beach. It opened in 2020 and sits about 300 meters from Haitang Bay Beach on Hainan Island. The whole place is built around reclaimed and locally sourced materials: volcanic basalt stone, red cedar, salvaged fishing boat timber, abandoned ship iron sheets, and rattan rugs everywhere. No marble lobbies or gilded chandeliers here — just raw textures that feel genuinely at home on a tropical island. The property has 294 rooms, suites, and villas ranging from 62 sqm standard rooms to 1,300 sqm sky villas, plus five outdoor pools, seven dining and drinking venues, and a full Bamford Wellness Spa.
