Why It Matters
Historically certified restoration of the 1876 Nesbitt Inn, with an interior overhaul by Rachel Reider Interiors that became genuinely influential on the Nantucket boutique hotel scene. The vitamin C-filtered showers were a first-of-their-kind application when the hotel opened. Now also operates The Swain House at adjacent 19 Broad — the original William Swain Victorian next door — as a six-room private annexe.
21 Broad lives inside a lively ornate Victorian built in 1876 — originally the Nesbitt, Nantucket's oldest continuously operating lodging house — that was gutted, lifted off its crawlspace, and fully rebuilt as a boutique hotel. Boston-based Rachel Reider Interiors did the design work: white-on-white palette, bold pops of color, warm woods, and custom art commissioned for the rooms. The result is a place that feels distinctly Nantucket without leaning on the island's usual blue-blood stuffiness.

Standard king option within The Swain House annexe. High ceilings, large windows overlooking Broad Street streetscapes, refreshed coastal design. En-suite private bathroom with LATHER products. Good pick if you want the Swain House experience without the detached bath arrangement.

Located in The Swain House at 19 Broad, the renovated Victorian annexe next door to the main hotel. Second floor. High ceilings, abundant natural light, serene and airy. The standout feature here is the private detached bathroom with a double-head waterfall shower — a genuinely different experience from the standard en-suites in the main building.
KingPetite King Room
The most compact option at 21 Broad and the honest budget pick. Solo travelers or couples who plan to be out most of the day will be perfectly happy here. Same design quality and bath products as the larger rooms — just less floor space. Modern elegance, natural textures, thoughtful details.

The queen option at 21 Broad — coastal-inspired textures, crisp linens, soft natural light. Same glass-enclosed shower and LATHER bath products as the king rooms. A solid, well-priced entry point into the hotel.
