A 17-story Art Deco skyscraper turned boutique hotel, the Hill Building was designed in 1935 by Shreve, Lamb & Harmon — the same firm behind the Empire State Building. The 125-room property doubles as a fully functioning contemporary art museum, with over 10,500 sq ft of exhibition space spread across the building's floors, elevators, restrooms, and stairwells, all free and open to the public 24/7. Counting House restaurant anchors the ground floor, and the whole thing sits in the heart of downtown Durham.

The whole 15th floor is yours. At 1,121 sq ft inside plus a 400 sq ft private terrace, it's the flagship room: king bed, living and dining area with wet bar, en-suite bathroom with dressing area and a separate powder room, and an outdoor concrete soaking tub on the terrace. Sweeping views of downtown Durham. The soaking tub closes seasonally December 1 through March 1.

Deluxe Double Queen
Two queen beds with large, light-filled windows and original artworks. Good option for families or two guests who want separate beds. Also available with ADA-compliant accommodations.
