3HB Faro opened in June 2021 as the first five-star hotel in the historic centre of Faro — and it earned a Michelin Key in 2025, which tells you something. The building, designed by architect Miguel Abreu with interiors by Paulo Lobo, mixes pale woods, local limestone, and considered lighting to land somewhere between boutique urban chic and quietly aspirational. It sits on a pedestrianized street, so you walk the last stretch on foot — a small inconvenience that's also what makes the location genuinely central. The rooftop infinity pool looking out over the city and Ria Formosa is the main event, but the wellness area, dual restaurants, and 104 well-kitted rooms mean this isn't a hotel that rests on its views alone.

Boat trips into the Ria Formosa Natural Park can be arranged and booked locally through the hotel concierge. Depart from Porta Nova pier or the marina. This is the main off-site activity the hotel actively promotes — the lagoon is home to flamingos and is one of the most impressive natural areas in southern Portugal.
