7c villa&winery
Modern Japanese zen meets wine country. Handcrafted wooden furniture, Shigaraki-ware bathtubs, heated floors, soaring ceilings. Minimal and deliberate — nothing is accidental. Quiet to the point of feeling remote, even though the town is 10 minutes by car.
Book dinner in advance — courses must be pre-reserved and the kitchen won't serve you otherwise
Why It Matters
Japan's first winery villa concept, operated by the same company that runs 7c | Seven Cedars Winery — Kawaguchiko's first winery. Winemaker Hiroko Takano works with 13 contracted local farmers to produce small-lot wines celebrating individual terroir. Guests stay directly on the winery grounds and can join seasonal vineyard work, take winery tours, and have wine paired dinners overlooking the vines.
Japan's first 'winery villa,' 7c villa&winery opened in July 2024 right next to the Seven Cedars Winery on the northern edge of Lake Kawaguchi. Ten rooms, each with a private open-air bath and garden, spread across a garden-like property where the architecture was designed to 'let the earth breathe.' The whole point is getting you close to the winemakers and the vines — not just as a backdrop, but as the reason you're here.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Luxury electric fat-tire bikes available for exploring the Lake Kawaguchi area — lakeside paths, local foothills, and village roads. A 10-minute orientation session is provided before each rental. Available daily 9:00–17:00 (no evening or early-morning rentals). The town center is about 4km away. Bikes can also be used to see Mount Fuji views from various spots around the lake.
Hands-on participation in the actual vineyard work, varying by season — vine pruning in spring, harvest activities in autumn. The concept is 'building the vineyard together with guests.' These experiences are planned on an evolving basis and may require advance inquiry.
A 30-minute guided tour of the 7c | Seven Cedars Winery and adjacent vineyard, starting at 14:15 — just before check-in time. Each tour is tailored to the current season, sharing stories about what's happening in the vineyard that month, how the wines are made, and the philosophy behind spotlighting individual grape farmers. The guide is called a '7c Maître.' Tours are primarily conducted in Japanese.
