ACME Hotel Company Chicago
Rock and roll boutique — artsy, tech-forward, approachable, irreverent. Feels like staying at a cool friend's very well-appointed loft rather than a polished corporate property.

Why It Matters
Chicago's original independently-owned approachable boutique hotel. Consistent Condé Nast Traveler Reader's Choice winner (top 10, has reached #1 and #2). Part of Hilton's indie Outset Collection, which means Hilton Honors points without the Hilton vibe. Has its own award-winning cocktail bar (The Berkshire Room) and a legitimately fun apres-ski hot tub experience called Bunny Slope.
ACME is Chicago's original independently-owned approachable boutique hotel, planted squarely in River North, 2 blocks from the Magnificent Mile. Think rock and roll meets pop-art industrial — commission murals in the lobby, painted mannequins hanging in the light well, graffiti-covered stairwells by artist AMUSE. It earns serious street cred too: multiple Condé Nast Traveler Reader's Choice nods (reaching #1 and #2) and a top-5 spot on Travel + Leisure's Best City Hotels in Chicago list. Rates stay refreshingly affordable for a downtown hotel with this much personality.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
The hotel is woven with commissioned local art. A large lobby mural by Nashville artist Brian Tull commissioned through Curly Tale Fine Art, graffiti-covered stairwells by Chicago street artist AMUSE, and the Bare Painted Ladies installation — mannequins painted by local artists visible from room windows. No guided tour, but it's worth exploring floor by floor.
Hotel guests get free access to the Bunny Slope apres-ski-themed hot tub space, 7am–9pm daily, using their room key card. Great for unwinding after a day out. Note: if a private party has booked the space, guest access is not available.
Some rooms and suites come with an ESP guitar already in the room — the hotel leans hard into the rock and roll theme. If your room doesn't have one, swing by the front desk and borrow one for free. Bowers & Wilkins headphones are included.
A proper gym on the lower level — treadmills and more, open 6am to 10pm. The hotel explicitly says this isn't a sad corporate fitness center.
The hotel actively curates and lists local events, concerts, and Chicago bucket list experiences on their site, and has an activity desk to help guests plan. Bi-weekly blog covers inside tips on Chicago neighborhoods, dining, and entertainment.
