Why It Matters
The cave suites are genuinely carved into the cliffs — only seven of them, and they book out fast. Acro guests also get reciprocal access to the neighboring Sea Side Resort's facilities, which adds scope without diluting the boutique feel. The addition of Michelin-starred Chef Gerardo Metta's Caléa restaurant is a serious upgrade to the dining scene.
Acro Suites sits on the rocky cliffs of Mononaftis Bay in northern Crete, where the name says it all: 'akron' in ancient Greek means 'on the edge.' And that's exactly where you are. All 49 suites and villas cling to the cliffside — some carved right into the rock face as cave suites, others cantilevered over the drop with private infinity pools that seem to spill into the Aegean. It's an adults-only property built around a genuine wellness philosophy, not just a checklist of spa facilities. Think Byzantine hammam, open-sided yoga shala, pilates studio with reformer beds, and a Michelin-starred chef now cooking on-site.

The signature room type at Acro. Carved directly into the rocky cliffside, these suites blend boho chic with the raw drama of the terrain. Custom-made wooden furniture, stone, natural silk bed covers, marbles sourced from Ancient Festos, and a private plunge pool cut into the rock. Only seven available — sunrise from here is something guests consistently rave about.
KingGaia Suite Private Infinity Pool
Designed around the same organic bohemian philosophy as the Wave suites, with a private infinity pool and unobstructed views of the Cretan Sea. Morning light is a particular feature here.
