AJWA Sultanahmet is a 61-room, five-star property in Istanbul's Old City, opened in 2017. Turkish-Azerbaijani owners commissioned Gülab Architecture & Construction to rebuild a historic building using Seljuk and Ottoman design language — inside and out. The result is hand-painted ceilings, silk Tabriz carpets, mother-of-pearl furniture crafted by Damascus artisans, and specially commissioned tiles in every bathroom. It deliberately avoids modern boutique minimalism. And it's fully alcohol-free and halal — the only luxury hotel of its kind in Sultanahmet.

Seven Family Suites, each 47 sqm, arranged as two separate rooms — a master bedroom with French bed and a second room with a single bed. They face the hotel's interior atrium and its vertical garden, not the street or sea, so don't book these for the view. But the interiors are lovely: velvet camelhair sofas, solid walnut furniture, and headboards with Seljuk motifs. Good for families or those who need a private second bedroom.

Sultan Suite
The 120 sqm Sultan Suite occupies the 7th floor and is the hotel's crown jewel. Three distinct sections: a burgundy-toned dining and living area with a spectacular chandelier, ornate mother-of-pearl antique furniture, and hand-painted ceilings; a green-toned master bedroom; and a bathroom in turquoise custom-made tiles with twin marble sinks, copper basins, a spacious jacuzzi tub, sauna, and separate marble shower.
