Altes Stahlwerk Business & Lifestyle Hotel
Industrial-chic with real bones — exposed steel, raw concrete, floor-to-ceiling windows, and clean modern furnishings. Not a themed hotel doing a pastiche of factory life; the original structure does the heavy lifting.

Why It Matters
Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels listed. One of Germany's better-executed industrial conversions, with two proper restaurants, a day spa named 'Schmelztiegel' (melting crucible), and a genuine farm-to-table supply chain via partner James Farm. The hotel keeps its own beehives and the honey shows up at breakfast.
A converted former steel mill — the Nordische Stahlwerke, founded over a century ago — that opened as a hotel in 2012. The original 1926 'Putzerei' (cleaning shop) hall is the centrepiece: eight-metre ceilings, hanging crane hooks, concrete beams, and original graffiti still on the walls. A glazed steel bridge connects the industrial hall to a newer guest wing with 100 lifestyle rooms spread across six floors.
