The Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt has over 150 years of hospitality behind it — the original 'Gasthof zur Überfahrt' opened in 1873, and the name itself refers to the old lake crossing. Today it's a serious gourmet destination with a freshly minted Michelin star (June 2025) alongside four other award-winning restaurants. The 3,000 sqm spa is under major renovation through summer 2026, so arrive with that in mind.

Steps up to a direct Alps or lake view (not just a side angle), and gains about 7 sqm over the standard room. At 42 sqm it's a genuinely comfortable size. The rooms overlooking the lake are the ones to request — floor-to-ceiling windows and a balcony with the full Tegernsee panorama.

At 50 sqm you get a proper sitting area separate from the bedroom, plus a direct Alps or lake view from the balcony. Good choice for longer stays or anyone who wants space to breathe without jumping to full suite pricing. The lake-view version is the one worth requesting.

The entry-level room at the Überfahrt — and entry-level here still means proper Alpine design, a private balcony or terrace, and a side view of either the Alps or the lake. Around 35 sqm, which is comfortable without being spacious. Comes with PENHALIGON's toiletries, a premium capsule coffee machine, and soft drinks included in the minibar.

The split-level format (maisonette) gives this 80 sqm suite a distinctive layout — bedroom on one level, living area on another. Has both Alps AND lake views. One of the more architecturally interesting options in the hotel.

The top accommodation category at the Überfahrt. Fantastic direct lake view with a spacious living area. Exact size not publicly listed, but positioned as the hotel's flagship room. Worth inquiring about directly when booking.
Tegernsee Suite
Named for the lake it faces, the Tegernsee Suite delivers a panoramic lake view at 90 sqm. Large lounge, separate bedroom, and balcony directly overlooking the water. The view alone justifies the step up from the junior suites.

Named after the Wallberg mountain that towers over the Tegernsee valley. At 72 sqm with a dedicated Alps-facing view, this is the first true suite in the lineup — generous lounge, bedroom, and the kind of space where you actually want to spend time indoors. Mountain rather than lake view.
