Altstadthotel Weißes Kreuz
Baroque-meets-Brooklyn boutique. Loud, playful, historically loaded, and self-aware about all of it. Think globe lamps, high-backed suede armchairs, and a pool table in the room where Mozart slept.

Why It Matters
One of the oldest continuously operating inns in Europe, dating to 1465, with a documented Mozart connection (he stayed in 1769 with his father). Completely gut-renovated in 2021 by award-winning noa* architecture studio, turning a crumbling relic into Innsbruck's most talked-about boutique property. Listed in both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels.
A 4-star boutique hotel that has been operating since 1465 — and yes, Mozart checked in here in 1769. Fast-forward to 2021: owners Thomas and Brigitte handed the place to South Tyrolean architecture studio noa*, who unleashed what they call 'chic-shock-baroque' on the interiors. The result is 48 individually designed chambers spread across five floors, each a riot of color and personality. No two rooms are alike, and that's partly by design, partly because the 560-year-old building had its own ideas. The 6th-floor loft bar, Blaue Brigitte, is where you check in, have breakfast, and come back for cocktails — it does triple duty with genuine flair.
