Why It Matters

Amanera sits on a 60-foot clifftop above Playa Grande beach on the Dominican Republic's wild north coast, backed by jungle and fronted by the Atlantic. It's remote — a 75-minute drive from Puerto Plata airport — and that distance from everything is entirely the point. Around 25 casitas scatter across the cliffs, each one free-standing, each one with floor-to-ceiling glass and an ocean-facing terrace. The ratio of staff to guests is roughly 145 to 25, and it shows.

The standard — and still exceptional — casitas frame unobstructed ocean views from within lush gardens. Each is free-standing for complete privacy, with floor-to-ceiling glass doors leading to an ocean-facing terrace with lounge space and outdoor dining. No private pool, but the resort's two outdoor pools are a short walk away.
Ocean View Pool Casita
Elevated on the cliffside with direct ocean views, this casita opens onto an extensive terrace with a sheltered al fresco dining area and private swimming pool. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors maximize the ocean panorama. Ideal for couples who want more outdoor space without going to the Casa.
Pool and Hill Duo Casita
Two casitas connected by a covered breezeway — one pool casita, one hill casita — making this the right option for groups of three or four or families who want to be close but not on top of each other. Ocean views, swimming pool, and the same quality of finishes as the standard casitas.

Two-Bedroom Bay View Casa
The resort's top accommodation. Two separate master casitas sit on either side of a central glass-walled living and dining pavilion, connected by a path that winds through four tranquil reflection ponds. A private 47 sqm pool, terrace dining for six, and an expansive sundeck anchor the outdoor space. There's also a full kitchen. A personal host is assigned full-time and ferries guests around the resort in a private buggy. Positioned for prime bay views along the Playa Grande coastline.
