Amanpuri
Minimalist Thai grandeur. Dark teak, pitched roofs inspired by ancient Ayutthaya architecture, no clutter, no noise. It has the feel of a private estate rather than a hotel — guests barely cross paths. Beloved by 'Amanjiaks' (repeat Aman devotees) and quietly popular with celebrities who value the extreme discretion.
Book at least 3 nights to qualify for complimentary round-trip airport transfers (otherwise it's USD 150 each way)
Why It Matters
The original Aman — every other property in the 30+ resort portfolio descends from this one. Winner of the 2024 Tatler Best of Asia 'Best Resort' award. Home to Aman's first Holistic Wellness Centre and the only resort with a Mobility & Recovery Programme co-designed with Novak Djokovic.
Amanpuri is where Aman began. Opened in 1988 on a private peninsula on Phuket's west coast, it set the template for everything the brand does: polished teak pavilions woven through coconut palms, a 27-metre midnight-blue infinity pool at the top of sweeping stone stairs, and a private white-sand beach below. The name means 'place of peace' in Sanskrit, and the resort takes that seriously — staff-to-guest ratios are legendary, and the silence here is genuinely restorative. Forty pavilions and up to 43 villas, a Holistic Wellness Centre that runs multi-day immersion programmes, and four restaurants covering Thai, Japanese, Italian, and Mediterranean — all on a peninsula you essentially have to yourself.
