Why It Matters
First overwater villas in Ras Al Khaimah, and among the first in the entire UAE/Gulf region. The resort fronts a protected mangrove sanctuary that creates genuinely wild scenery unmatched at any comparable Gulf property. It's Anantara's ninth UAE property and the brand's most nature-immersed one by far.
This is the resort that brought overwater villas to the entire Arabian Gulf region. Opened in January 2024, it sits on a private peninsula in Mina Al Arab — a gated waterfront community 45 minutes north of Dubai — with a tidal lagoon and mangrove nature reserve on one side and the open Arabian Gulf on the other. The 174-key property was designed by Wilson Associates and Perkins Eastman, blending Arab and Thai architectural influences with serious eco credentials: sustainably built accommodations, recycled materials, no single-use plastics, and careful preservation of surrounding mangroves that shelter sea turtles, flamingos, herons, and the occasional rare dugong.

Anantara Over Water Pool Villa
The reason most people make the trip. Stand-alone circular structures on stilts over the tidal lagoon, with thatched roofs and a genuinely Maldivian aesthetic. Each villa has a king bedroom, walk-in closet, living room, kitchenette, a full bathroom with freestanding tub and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the mangroves, plus an outdoor shower. The deck has a temperature-controlled private plunge pool, sun loungers, and outdoor charging ports. Only 20 villas on property, so it never feels crowded.
