Why It Matters
Built directly over the Baths of Diocletian (AD 298–306), with ruins visible through the hotel's glass floor. Home to INEO, which earned its first Michelin star in the 2026 Guide. Rome's biggest luxury hotel sits right on the Piazza della Repubblica inside a crescent-shaped, 19th-century neoclassical marble palazzo designed by Gaetano Koch between 1887 and 1898. The building is literally built atop the ruins of the Baths of Diocletian — you can stare down at 4th-century AD stonework through glass panels in the floor. Most recently renovated in 2023, it now operates as Anantara's first Italian property, with 232 rooms across two wings, a one-Michelin-starred restaurant, a rooftop pool rare for Rome, and the first Anantara Spa in Italy.

The entry point at the Palazzo Naiadi and still a proper luxury room. High ceilings, natural light, Neoclassical furnishings in green and gold. Bedding is a queen or two twins, with king beds in select units. Floor-to-ceiling travertine marble bathrooms with Acqua di Parma amenities and an oversized rain shower. Figurine lamps by the bedside add a period-appropriate touch.
Executive Suite with View
Designed by architect Marco Piva, with direct views of the Piazza della Repubblica and the Baths of Diocletian. A blend of modern and classic that has reportedly charmed movie stars and royalty. Guests can choose between a rooftop terrace or an in-suite treadmill. Butler service and a full slate of suite privileges are included.
Junior Terrace Suite with Jacuzzi
A proper suite with a private outdoor terrace and Jacuzzi overlooking Rome's rooftops. Travertine bathroom and extra lounge space. Designed by architect Maurizio Papiri. Floor-to-ceiling windows stream light onto Murano glass chandeliers, with views of the Piazza della Repubblica and Via Nazionale. Classic furnishings paired with curated contemporary art. The suite has a history of hosting royalty and screen stars.
Sophia Loren Suite
The world's only suite dedicated to Sophia Loren, created in collaboration with her son Edoardo Ponti. A sensory homage to the actress's loves — cinema, fashion, gastronomy, family — filled with her favorite white roses, books, and photographs of her hometown Pozzuoli. Guests are served coffee in Loren's personal style (with two savoiardi biscuits) and can request dishes from her own recipe books, prepared by INEO's Chef Heros de Agostinis. Overlooks the Fountain of the Naiads with a separate living and dining room.
