Why It Matters
The first Andaz property in Asia and Indonesia — a distinction that sets expectations. The Shankha Spa is Sanur's largest wellness complex, shared with the adjacent Hyatt Regency. Asia's first Andaz resort, opened April 2021 on 6 acres of beachfront land in Sanur — Bali's quieter, more family-friendly southeast coast. The design pulls from traditional Balinese village architecture: low-rise red brick pavilions, carved wooden screens, batik textiles, and locally-made ceramics arranged around a series of lush garden courtyards. There's real craft here, with interiors by Bangkok's Tierra Design and Tokyo's Spin Design Studio striking a balance between authenticity and contemporary ease.

At sunset, the Kul Kul parade circles the property — a traditional ritual believed to ward off bad spirits — followed by a fire lighting ceremony at Kori Agung.
