Atticus Hotel
Contemporary boutique with a deeply local Oregon soul. Think wine country meets art hotel — warm, personal, and grounded in place. Not flashy-luxury, but considered-luxury: the fireplace, the Pendleton robe, the hand-selected books, the espresso bar open at midnight.
The hotel's 'secret' Drawing Room can be reserved for private dining through Cypress — perfect for special occasions
Why It Matters
Two-time Michelin Key recipient (2024 and 2025), TripAdvisor's Best of the Best Top 25 Hotels in the USA, and USA Today's 10 Best Winery Hotels in the US. It's the only luxury lifestyle hotel of its kind in McMinnville — a genuine independently owned gem in a wine country town that punches well above its weight.
The Atticus Hotel is a 36-room luxury lifestyle hotel that opened in 2018 in the heart of Historic Downtown McMinnville — Oregon's Willamette Valley wine country, about 40 miles south of Portland. Independently owned by local partners Erin Stephenson, Brian Shea, and GM Ben Perle, it wears its community on every wall: original art by local artists, handcrafted furnishings from Oregon makers, locally sourced coffee and tea, and a restaurant drawing on Pacific Northwest farms and Mediterranean flavors. No two rooms are alike, and that's entirely by design.

The hotel's knowledgeable local concierge can arrange winery tours, transportation, and curated tasting itineraries throughout the Willamette Valley. Ask before you arrive for the best planning.
The concierge can help plan visits to the 200+ wineries within a 20-minute drive, including 18 tasting rooms within walking distance of the hotel. Known for world-class Pinot noir, Pinot gris, and Chardonnay.
Borrow one of the hotel's hand-painted Dutch cruiser bikes and explore Historic Downtown McMinnville, the Granary District, or the surrounding wine country roads. The bikes have wooden cargo boxes — handy for a bottle or two picked up at a tasting room.
The Atticus hosts weddings, corporate meetings, and private events. Boardroom seats 10; additional event spaces available including the Drawing Room and Penthouse.
Book the hotel's 'secret' Drawing Room for a private lunch or dinner with a prix fixe menu from Cypress and full bar service. Intimate fireplace setting, great for anniversaries and celebrations.
A seasonal lobby event the Atticus has become known for — guests and locals gather 5pm–8pm (primarily Monday evenings in fall/winter) for a communal but quiet reading session. Blankets and seating provided; a special food and drink menu from Cypress is on offer. Bring your own book. 5–5:30pm is reserved for settling in.
