Why It Matters
Cyril Laugier holds a Michelin recognition (listed in the 2025 Guide) for his spice-driven creative cuisine. The restaurant — now called Lucienne fait des siennes — is the reason many guests make the trip to this otherwise quiet Beaujolais village. The food is the draw; the rooms are a bonus that keeps people coming back.
A converted village social hall in the heart of Beaujolais wine country, now a seriously stylish 7-room auberge run by chef Cyril Laugier and his wife Valérie Bugnet. The rooms are named after spices — Gingembre, Paprika, Cumin, Tandoori — and individually designed with a mix of antique finds, design furniture, bleached-oak parquet, and Philippe Starck lamps. A black-tiled lap pool, Jacuzzi, sauna, and library complete the picture. Here's the thing though: the whole place only opens Wednesday through Saturday, so plan accordingly.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Complimentary bike rental to explore the surrounding Beaujolais vineyards and villages. The area around Saint-Amour is flat to gently rolling and well-suited to cycling between appellations.
The property and local tourist board list hiking as an available activity. The surrounding Beaujolais hills have marked trails through the vineyards.
A sunny library filled with art books, novels, and magazines, adjacent to the Jacuzzi terrace. One of the more appealing non-food reasons to linger at the property.
The hotel is surrounded by Beaujolais and Mâconnais producers within cycling or short driving distance. Saint-Amour, Juliénas, and Pouilly-Fuissé appellations are all within easy reach. Staff can point guests to local domaines.
