Aurora Villa
Nordic minimalist meets Alaskan wilderness — sleek interiors, big windows, serious darkness at night
The 10pm lights-out policy applies to all guests — keep curtains closed or room dark to help everyone's viewing
Why It Matters
Tablet Hotels-listed boutique property with one of the most purposeful Northern Lights viewing setups in Alaska — enforced 10pm lights-out policy, minimal surrounding light pollution, and floor-to-ceiling north-facing windows across all rooms.
Aurora Villa sits at the end of a country road about 30 minutes northeast of Fairbanks — far enough from the city that the night sky here is genuinely dark. The property's Nordic minimalist design is a sharp contrast to the rustic Alaskan lodge aesthetic that dominates the area, all clean lines and floor-to-ceiling windows pointed squarely at the sky. At 10pm, the property's exterior lights cut out entirely so guests can watch the Northern Lights without interference.

Amenities & Practical Info
The details that matter for planning.
Common great room with large windows for Northern Lights viewing — good backup if you don't want to stand outside in -30°F.
Available throughout the property. Note: T-Mobile does not work in Fairbanks — confirm carrier roaming before arriving.
Self-serve breakfast included. In practice, this means coffee and basic items. Don't plan your morning around it — the nearest proper breakfast spot is a 25-minute drive.
All rooms have at minimum a mini-fridge and microwave. V Lodge cabin has a full kitchen with fridge, oven, stove, and coffee maker.
Central heating throughout; critical given average January lows of -9.6°F.
All exterior property lights are cut at 10pm to minimize light pollution. Guests must close curtains or keep rooms dark. This is a hard policy, not a suggestion.
Shared outdoor fireplace on property.
Cameras in common areas and exterior. Full-day security monitoring.
The property can help coordinate partner tour bookings — dog sledding, glacier trips, arctic circle tours, and more.
Fully self-managed property with contactless check-in via an online form sent to your email. Self-check-in instructions available at front desk for late-night arrivals.
Free on-site parking. An electrical plug is available at the edge of the parking area for extended cold-weather parking needs.
