Why It Matters
Completely rebuilt in 2017 from one of Val d'Isère's oldest hotel foundations. Restaurant Avancher ranks #2 of 104 restaurants in Val d'Isère on TripAdvisor, and is the only place in the village serving traditional raclette cooked under a central table-side oven. The rooftop Scandinavian outdoor sauna with views over the Face Olympique de Bellevarde is a standout feature. Consistently praised for friendliness and value relative to the resort's normally eye-watering prices.
One of Val d'Isère's oldest establishments — originally opened in 1949 — the Avancher was completely demolished and rebuilt from scratch in 2017.
