Bad Bubendorf sits in the rolling Basel-Landschaft hills, about 20 km from Basel, in a building whose roots go back to 1742. This is the spot where, in 1830, the founders of the half-canton of Baselland gathered — the hotel still goes by its local nickname, the 'Baselbieter Rütli'. Two very different buildings share one address: a carefully restored historic main house full of natural materials and earthy tones, and a sleek design annex with floor-to-ceiling panorama windows and parquet floors. The real draw, beyond the rooms, is Osteria TRE — a Michelin-starred Italian restaurant that also holds 14 GaultMillau points and serves handmade pasta every single day.
