Bateau Libre is a 12-room boutique hotel in the centre of Bénodet, opened in spring 2020 by Jean-Etienne Gourvès — a graduate of the École Hôtelière de Lausanne who returned to his native Brittany with serious ambitions. The maritime design runs through everything: rooms called 'cabines', a teal-and-white palette, Coco-Mat beds, and a laidback bistrot that starts shucking oysters at 4pm. Five minutes on foot gets you to the beach and the Odet river estuary.
