Beadnell Towers Hotel
Coastal heritage boutique. The designer, Matt Hulme of Dynargh Design, took cues from the tempestuous sea and shifting dunes — stone tones, driftwood textures, mocha and cream interiors. Warm rather than formal. Staff lend you wellies on the way out. Dogs curl up by the fire in the Reading Room. It's the kind of place that actually means it when it says pet-friendly.
Book the Craa's Nest (top floor) or Muckle Hoose for the showstopper rooms — both have freestanding copper baths and serious wow factor
Why It Matters
2025 Michelin Key award winner. Recognised by the Sunday Times as one of the Top 100 Hotels in the UK. A 300-year-old building that somehow became one of Northumberland's most design-forward boutique hotels after its 2019 refurbishment. The Kitchen's commitment to Northumbrian produce — Craster kippers, fresh shellfish, heritage potatoes — is the real standout.
A Grade II listed, 18th-century stone inn in the coastal village of Beadnell, fully refurbished in 2019 with 22 individually designed rooms spread across the main building and a separate Coach House. The Beadnell Kitchen holds a Michelin Key (2025) and a Good Food Guide award, and the cooking — rooted in Northumbrian seafood and seasonal produce — is genuinely the reason many people come. Exposed stone walls, vaulted ceilings with wooden beams, and copper freestanding baths sit alongside patterned wallpapers and contemporary lighting: the building wears its history without being precious about it.
