Belles Rives
Jazz Age Art Deco glamour, intimate family-run, old-money Riviera with literary heritage
Book a room on the upper floors for the best panoramic sea views toward the Estérel and Lérins Islands.
Why It Matters
Former residence of F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald (1925–1929), where Fitzgerald wrote Tender is the Night. In continuous operation since 1929 and still family-owned. Member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World. Holds 1 Michelin star for restaurant La Passagère. The Fitzgerald Bar is a member of Europe's Historic and Heritage Cafés.
This is the actual house where Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald spent their summers in the mid-1920s — the waterfront villa on Cap d'Antibes where Fitzgerald wrote Tender is the Night. It became a hotel in 1929 and has been run by the same family ever since. The Art Deco bones are magnificent: mosaic floors, stained-glass windows, gilded chandeliers, and those iconic blue-and-white striped awnings. Small at 43 rooms, but punching well above its size with a 1-Michelin-star restaurant and one of the genuinely great piano bars on the Côte d'Azur.
