Heritage boutique with a modern refresh — think reclaimed curios, LED-lit colonial facades, and 20–22 sqm rooms designed with Peranakan tile accents and smart TVs. More artful hostelry than luxury hotel, but genuinely distinctive for the neighbourhood.

Why It Matters
The last pre-colonial shophouse facade on one of KL's most commercialised streets. Selected by both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. Took a family-run budget hotel with 40 years of history and turned it into a design-forward boutique property without demolishing what made it interesting.
Bintang Collectionz is arguably the last surviving pre-colonial heritage building on Jalan Bukit Bintang. The 95-year-old shophouse facade — deep-cleaned, encased in protective glass, and lit up with multicoloured LEDs at night — sits in stark contrast to the malls and glass towers flanking it on all sides. Inside, old photographs, artifacts, and architectural salvage from the original building show up in lift interiors and wall decor. New owners took over in January 2022 and relaunched it from its prior life as the modest Bintang Warisan Hotel, adding modern rooms with Peranakan tile accents and a rooftop dining bar on the 10th floor.
