Why It Matters
One of the first boutique eco-hotels in Trentino (converted in 1999), it holds both a Michelin Key hotel designation and a Michelin Star restaurant (Stube Hermitage, awarded since 2008) — one of only four such hotels in Trentino and 107 in all of Italy. The Maffei family also runs the on-site ski rental shop.
A former farmhouse turned 4-Star Superior boutique hotel, Biohotel Hermitage has been in the Maffei family for over 100 years. It sits about 1.5 km outside the centre of Madonna di Campiglio with uninterrupted views of the Brenta Dolomites through floor-to-ceiling windows. The big draw here is double-barrelled prestige: a Michelin Key hotel distinction and a Michelin Star restaurant under the same roof.

The entry-level room at a compact 18 sqm. No balcony and no mountain view — this is the honest downside. Bathroom has a shower. Works fine for solo travellers or couples who plan to spend most of their time on the slopes or in the spa, not the room.

Genziana Room
A mid-sized room with mostly solid larch wood floors and some with virgin wool carpets. Furniture in spruce pine and Swiss stone pine, treated with linseed oil. Non-smoking throughout. Most have a balcony with Dolomite views. Sofa bed accommodates a third guest.

Junior Suite
Attic rooms ranging from 35–45 sqm with bioarchitecture design throughout. Most have solid larch or spruce pine wood floors; some have pure virgin wool carpets. Furniture is treated with linseed oil to keep the natural wood aroma intact. Some configurations (303/304) have large ensuite bathrooms with double washbasin in red Verona marble, bath and separate shower.

Mini Suite
Two rooms available (nos. 109 and 208), each with a balcony and Dolomites view. The sleeping area is separated from the children's or relaxing zone by a door — a clever touch for families. Two bathrooms: no. 109 has a bath and shower, no. 208 has two showers.

Newly renovated in contemporary alpine style using bioarchitecture principles. Solid larch wood floors and fir wood furniture treated with linseed oil. Most have a balcony with panoramic Dolomite views, but a handful face inward — worth specifying when booking if the view matters to you.

The flagship room, tucked in the attic and completely renovated in 2012 in a mountain-chic style with vintage-white walls and contemporary furniture. Sleeps up to five. Two bathrooms (one shower, one bathtub), a walk-in closet, and a private balcony with Dolomite views. There's a separate area for parents that actually gives families some breathing room.
