Tiger Portland – Carleton Street
Screen-free, indie boutique guesthouse with a 'staying at a stylish friend's place' feel. Vintage furnishings, local art, high ceilings, ornate Victorian cornicing. Deliberately low-key and independent-traveler focused.

Why It Matters
One of Portland's most design-forward small stays. The no-screens policy and local tastemaker model genuinely distinguish it from standard boutique hotels. Part of the Mr & Mrs Smith and Tablet Hotels collections, and earns World of Hyatt points. Sister property Blind Tiger Danforth Street is just a few blocks away.
A 19th-century Victorian townhouse in Portland's maple tree-lined West End turned six-room guesthouse. No TVs, no front desk, no fuss — each room is hosted by a local tastemaker who leaves a handwritten letter with their real picks for where to eat, drink, and explore. Self check-in, 24/7 text support, and a daily breakfast basket delivered to your door.

On Property
How you'll actually spend your days.
The house is stocked with board games and a wellness library for downtime. The screen-free policy actively encourages guests to slow down.
Staff can officiate a small elopement ceremony in one of the common areas or the outdoor garden. Includes champagne flutes, chocolate-covered strawberries, and breakfast in bed. Call the property to arrange.
Each room is 'hosted' by a Portland local tastemaker who leaves a personal letter of recommendations — restaurants, bars, shops, and experiences the average tourist hasn't discovered yet.
Borrow a picnic basket and blanket to take to the Eastern Promenade, East End Beach, or Portland Head Light. A very Portland thing to do.
