Why It Matters
The only hotel on Plum Island, and one of very few true beachfront properties on Massachusetts' North Shore. The Blue Oceanfront Suite spans two floors and over 2,000 sq ft. An hour from Boston but feels genuinely remote.
Blue is the only hotel on Plum Island, sitting directly on the sand at the south end of Newbury Beach. It's a Lark Hotels property, and the design leans into the maritime setting without going full nautical-kitsch — think crisp white interiors punctuated by vivid cobalt, turquoise, and aquamarine accents, organic textures, and in-room touches like Tivoli Bluetooth radios. Thirteen rooms, suites, and private cottages spread across the property, with most main-building units facing the ocean directly. No restaurant on-site, but a curated breakfast basket lands at your door every morning.

The top-of-the-line option — a multi-level beachfront unit spanning two floors and more than 2,200 sq ft. Two bedrooms, a full gourmet kitchen, wood-burning fireplace, wrap-around deck, and a private hot tub. Essentially a luxury beachfront apartment. Sleeps up to 4–6.
King
Oceanfront Cottage
A standalone private cottage with its own dedicated entrance and private beach area overlooking the main beach and ocean. Luxury finishes throughout, full kitchen, and the most privacy of any unit on the property. Warmly reviewed in all seasons including winter.
KingOceanview King
Main-building room with a king bed and full Atlantic ocean views. The most popular entry point at Blue — floor-to-ceiling windows, balcony with chaise longues, gas fireplace, and direct sightlines to the water. The bathroom in some units features a double rain shower and heated floors.
KingOceanview Lark Suite
The signature suite in the main building, noted as having the most expansive ocean views of any room at the inn. Generous space with a seating area, large balcony, and the full complement of Lark amenities. Sleeps up to 4.
KingOceanview Queen
One of the main-building oceanview rooms with a queen bed and direct views of the Atlantic. Classic white-and-blue Lark aesthetic with plush linens, in-room fireplace in some units, refrigerator, electric kettle, and balcony or deck access.
QueenOne-Bedroom King Cottage
One-bedroom cottage with a king bed. Private entrance, full kitchen, and Lark's signature white-and-blue design. Located across the street from the beach.
