Borgo Egnazia
White limestone and rustic romance. Everything is cream, stone, and candlelit — more Puglian farmhouse fantasy than modern minimalism. Guests in Il Borgo even receive a daily bolletino (bulletin) slipped under the door announcing piazza events. It feels like a film set, but a very convincing one.
La Corte rooms (the main building) are adults-only from June 1 to September 30, and also during Easter and Christmas holidays — families with children under 13 must book Il Borgo or Le Case
Why It Matters
Borgo Egnazia essentially put Puglia on the international luxury hotel map. It's a member of Leading Hotels of the World, houses a Michelin-starred restaurant (Due Camini), and is home to Vair Spa, consistently ranked among the world's top wellness destinations. The scale is almost absurd in the best possible way.
Built from scratch but designed to look ancient, Borgo Egnazia is a full-scale recreation of a Puglian hill village — complete with cobblestone alleys, a central piazza, trulli-style architecture, and centuries-old olive trees. Architect Pino Brescia spent ten years completing it. The result is 40 acres of immersive limestone fantasy housing 184 rooms across three distinct zones: La Corte (the castle-like main building), Il Borgo (the village), and Le Case (28 private villas, each with its own pool). The Adriatic is a golf-buggy ride away via the championship San Domenico course.
