Borgo San Felice Resort
Medieval village turned luxury hotel. Earthy, history-soaked interiors with oak beams, travertine floors, handcrafted ceramics, and natural fabrics. Quietly grand rather than flashy. The whole place feels like a very good friend happened to inherit an Italian village and invited you to stay.

Why It Matters
Chianti's original Relais & Châteaux property (since 1992) and still one of its most convincing. The on-site working winery is the home of Vigorello, Italy's first Super Tuscan. Il Poggio Rosso holds a Michelin star and the hotel has Michelin's Two Keys (Excellence in Stay). The property also holds a Michelin Green Star for sustainability. It's essentially a functioning wine estate where the guestrooms happen to be magnificent.
An entire 8th-century medieval village on a Chianti hilltop, converted into a 5-star luxury resort. Forty rooms and 23 suites occupy the original stone buildings; farmers who still tend the surrounding vineyards remain the only non-hotel residents. The Siena skyline sits on the horizon, the San Felice winery — birthplace of the first Super Tuscan — runs beneath the borgo, and a Michelin-starred restaurant anchors one end of the piazza.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Kitchen sessions with the borgo's chefs focused on the roots of Tuscan cuisine — seasonal produce, regional traditions, fresh pasta, and the relationship between ingredient quality and flavor. The knowledge travels home with you.
Outdoor dining on Orto Felice's vine-covered terrace, surrounded by the gardens. The kitchen garden supplies the table directly. Best in summer months when the night sky over Chianti is clear.
Guided truffle hunting excursion in the surrounding Chianti countryside. Available as a package (RACK Truffle Hunting) bookable through the official website.
Guided visits beneath the borgo to the San Felice winery — one of the most prestigious terroirs in Chianti Classico and birthplace of Italy's first Super Tuscan (Vigorello). Tastings cover the three major Tuscan denominations: Chianti, Montalcino, and Bolgheri. Included for guests; also available via the on-site wine shop.
Two ways to see the Chianti countryside in style. Take a Ferrari Rossa along winding vineyard roads, or depart from the borgo's own helipad for a bird's-eye aerial survey of the Tuscan landscape.
Dawn group or private balloon flight over the Chianti countryside. Champagne breakfast included. One of the signature experiences — watching sunrise from the air with Siena and the San Felice estate below is genuinely memorable.
Guided horseback rides through the estate vineyards at sunset. Bookable through Guest Relations.
Mountain bikes available on-site for exploring the estate roads and surrounding countryside.
Explore the Chianti Classico hills on Pirelli E-Cycles along quiet country roads, through vineyards and medieval villages. Tailor-made itineraries designed by the hotel team based on your preferences and fitness level.
Seasonal outdoor heated pool with free sun loungers, umbrellas, and cabanas. Poolside bar (Bar Archi) serves drinks and snacks. Open in summer months.
Two on-site tennis courts, free use for guests.
