Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amistà
Contemporary art museum meets historic Italian villa. Maximalist, colorful, fashion-forward. Not for minimalists or those who just want neutral tones and a pool.

Why It Matters
The Amistà Restaurant has held a Michelin Star for six consecutive years. The hotel itself holds 1 Michelin Key. The art collection — curated personally by the owner — includes site-specific installations and works by internationally recognized artists. Alessandro Mendini's 2005 renovation is considered a landmark in design-hotel history.
A 5-star luxury hotel inside an 18th-century Venetian villa in the Valpolicella wine hills, about 10 km from Verona. The place doubles as a working museum: over 200 artworks by the likes of Damien Hirst, Anish Kapoor, Marc Quinn, and Vanessa Beecroft are scattered through common areas, guest rooms, and the gardens, each labeled gallery-style. Designer Alessandro Mendini overhauled the interiors in 2005 for owner and art collector Dino Facchini — the result is bold color, plastic shapes, and Proust armchair energy set against 17th-century frescoed vaults. It is genuinely one of a kind.
