Silt
Contemporary coastal landmark. Futuristic architecture meets understated Scandinavian-inflected interiors — calm colour palette, quality materials, nothing fussy. It's modern Belgian coastal at its most polished.
Ask specifically for an east or west facing room: you get both a beach view down the coastline AND a sea view, rather than just the frontal north-facing sea view
Why It Matters
Opened in 2024 and selected by both the Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels. The building itself is a genuine architectural statement on the Belgian coast — a futuristic sphere-like form that has become the focal point of Middelkerke. Claims the distinction of being the closest hotel to the sea in Belgium.
Silt opened in 2024 and immediately became Middelkerke's most recognisable building — a bold, sphere-like structure that juts toward the North Sea from Epernay Square on the promenade. The four-star hotel claims to be the closest hotel to the sea anywhere in Belgium, and that's hard to argue with: you can hear the waves from your terrace. All 73 rooms face the water or the square, furnished with high-quality pieces including Carl Hansen & Son designs, and the same building also houses a casino and the independent Taste SILT restaurant.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Middelkerke Beach is literally a few steps from the front door. The town's sandy beach stretches for 9km. No beach club or sun lounger service organised by the hotel, but the proximity is unbeatable.
Middelkerke's new casino occupies part of the Silt building. It has a decorated gaming room with traditional games of chance, a VIP room, 10 slot machines, and 3 gaming tables. A casino restaurant serves food during gaming hours. Operated separately from the hotel.
The De Lijn Kusttram stops at Epernayplein right outside the hotel and runs the full length of the Belgian coast. Ostend is a short ride east (restaurants, museums, The Crystal Ship street art); Nieuwpoort is to the west. Easy day trips without a car.
The Silt building has conference and event space including a large hall, mezzanine, and dedicated conference rooms. Managed by Team Middelkerke rather than directly by C-Hotels.
