Caldera House
Mid-century alpine glamour meets American West craftsmanship. Leather, stone, and wood done with European restraint. Think Sixties ski chalet at the hands of a Commune Design principal — not rustic, not minimalist, but a very specific and confident blend of both.

Why It Matters
One of the smallest and most exclusive ski hotels in the US — only 8 suites, each essentially a private apartment. Literal ski-in/ski-out steps to the JHMR tram. Earned 2 Michelin Keys in 2025. Co-owned by Wes Edens (co-founder of Fortress Investment Group), who designed it as a place he'd actually want to stay. Three on-site restaurants including Corsa and the acclaimed Shin Shin sushi bar.
Caldera House is a true rarity in the American ski hotel world: a place that gets both the design and the luxury absolutely right. Just a few steps from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort's iconic 'Big Red' tram, the property opened in 2018 after six years and $100 million of work, and it shows. Eight sprawling suites — four at 1,500 sq ft and four at 5,000 sq ft — are each designed by acclaimed studios Commune Design (LA) and Carney Logan Burke (local), with Boffi kitchens, wood-burning fireplaces, private terraces with hot tubs, and Le Labo bath products. But it isn't just a pretty hotel: it doubles as a private alpine club, complete with a members' lounge, gear shop, ski butler, spa, and a dedicated concierge for every reservation.
