Pale resin floors, lacquer and steel furniture, clean geometric lines — all calibrated so the exposed stone walls, Moorish archways, and medieval coffered ceilings do the heavy lifting. Why It Matters
Valencia's only hotel classified as a historical monument, and one of Spain's first recipients of a Michelin Key (awarded 2024). The building spans over 2,000 years of layered history in a single structure. Restaurant Xanglot, helmed by chef Sandra Jorge, is recognized by the Michelin Guide and distinguished with a Repsol Sun. No two rooms share the same floor plan or historical artifacts.
A 14th-century Gothic palace in Valencia's Old Town that holds the rare distinction of being Spain's only designated historical monument hotel. The building layers two thousand years of history — a 2nd-century Roman mosaic, the original 12th-century Arabic city wall, and Gothic arches — all set against Francesc Rifé's deliberately sparse, monochrome interior design. The Arabic Tower (Room 15)
Occupies a former Moorish watchtower, making it one of the most architecturally singular rooms in any hotel in Valencia. The tower structure is fully integrated into the room's design.
The City Door (Room 14)
Accessed via a staircase from above. Named after a fully restored stone archway that once served as the first city checkpoint for travellers entering Valencia in the Arabic period (12th century). The only room positioned outside the original city walls, so guests can observe the exterior face of the Arabic tower wall.

The grandest room in the hotel. Features original painted coffered ceilings from the Gothic palace period — a genuinely rare architectural survival. A suite in the original sense: generous proportions, sitting area, and the full historic weight of the Marquis's personal quarters.
The Marquis's Study (Room 01)
The entry-level named room, designed around the aesthetic of the Marquis's personal study. Like all rooms, features pale resin floors, minimalist lacquer and steel furnishings, and the original historic fabric of the building exposed throughout.
The Palace Dining Room (Room 12)
The former grand dining room of the palace. When excavation teams first worked the site, they discovered a locked safe containing 19th-century objects including religious images and the Marchioness's personal handbags. Smart design touches include an entertainment unit concealed behind a mirrored wardrobe. Two balconies overlook the city and the restaurant below. Features an open-plan bathroom with a circular bathtub, separate shower, and separate WC.
The Palace Wine Cellar (Room 04)
Former wine storage vault of the palace, now a striking guest room. Features a stone arch visible above the bathtub — one of the hotel's most photographed room details.
The Wall Room (Room 03)
One of the most historically dramatic rooms in the hotel. One of the walls is the actual original Arab city wall that once surrounded Valencia — exposed and fully integrated into the room design.
