Why It Matters
The Morrison Room earned its first Michelin Star in February 2025, putting Carton House firmly on the fine-dining map. Beyond that, it holds two championship golf courses (O'Meara and Montgomerie), has hosted the Women's Irish Open 2024 and 2025, and is a member of Historic Hotels Worldwide. It's also Ireland's only Fairmont-managed property — and the oldest in the entire Fairmont collection.
A Palladian mansion dating to 1739 set on 1,100 private acres of Kildare parkland, Carton House is Ireland's only Fairmont property and one of its most storied aristocratic estates. The original Manor House — 18 bedrooms of Victorian staterooms and suites — sits at the heart of the resort, while a more recently refurbished Garden Wing houses the remaining 151 rooms. Together they add up to a serious country resort: two championship golf courses, a Michelin-starred restaurant, a destination spa, and enough acreage to spend a weekend without leaving the grounds.
