Book the Cleopatra Suite if the Elizabeth Taylor Suite is out of budget — it has a balcony Jacuzzi and claw-foot tub with bay views, and regulars keep coming back to it

Why It Matters

This is literally Elizabeth Taylor's and Richard Burton's former home. The heart-shaped pink marble tub Taylor commissioned is still here. The Puente del Amor connecting the two villas is still here. The property was renovated in 2010 and has since earned a Michelin Key — the first awarded to a Mexican hotel in this region.

Two side-by-side villas in Puerto Vallarta's Gringo Gulch neighborhood, once the personal homes of Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, converted into a 9-suite boutique hotel. The famous Puente del Amor (Bridge of Love) that Burton built to connect their houses still stands. Every suite is individually designed with 19th-century antiques, crystal chandeliers, hand-painted tiles, and serious bathrooms. This place leans hard into the Hollywood romance story — and it earns it. Recently awarded a Michelin Key.

Cleopatra Suite

Named for Taylor's iconic film role — and the movie that actually sparked the romance with Burton. The Colonial king-size bed has gleaming hand-turned posts, paired with an antique armoire and an ornately carved sink and mirror. The spacious bath has a claw-foot tub positioned to look directly over Puerto Vallarta's red clay rooftops to Banderas Bay. French doors from both the bedroom and bath open onto a private patio with a sunken Jacuzzi, framed by grand pillars. A guest favorite — reportedly booked by the same couples multiple times a year.

Elizabeth Taylor Suite

The flagship suite — and the reason most people book this hotel. Over 2,500 square feet, accessed via private elevator or hand-painted tile steps from the central courtyard. The wrap-around terrace is completely private with its own pool and Jacuzzi, looking straight out over Banderas Bay and the Sierra Madres. Above the bed, a Swarovski crystal chandelier illuminates hand-painted cherubim on a domed ceiling. The bath is nearly as large as the bedroom and centers on Taylor's original pink marble heart-shaped tub — which arrived in the somewhat amorphous shape of an actual heart, not a Valentine's heart, thanks to a translation mishap. Marble pillars and raised steps around the tub complete the effect.

Richard Burton Suite

Richard Burton Suite

Set on the top floor of Burton's former casita — this was literally his sitting room. Exposed rafters, an elegantly carved king-size bed, Oriental rug, and a stunning antique armoire give it a literary, intellectual feel. The bath repurposes an antique dresser as a sink under a crystal chandelier and an arched brick ceiling. The shower is lined with handmade ceramic tiles and arched clerestory windows, with a rainfall showerhead. More restrained than the Taylor-side suites, but no less crafted.
