Casa Mediterraneo
Intimate, design-forward boutique B&B with strong multi-cultural aesthetic. Feels like staying in a thoughtfully curated summer home, not a hotel. Unhurried, quiet, creatively eclectic.
The shared airport shuttle from Kastellorizo's tiny airstrip costs €7 per person and drops you at the hotel — staff will haul luggage up the 20 steps to reception
Why It Matters
Michelin Guide and Tablet Hotels selected. One of the only well-designed boutique stays on Kastellorizo — Greece's easternmost and most remote inhabited island, 12km² and closer to Turkey than to Athens. Founded by architect-hotelier Marie Rivalant-Lazarakis, interior designer Luc Lejeune, and architect Grégoire Du Pasquier. Each of the six suites occupies an entire floor of a restored manor house and has sea views. Built almost entirely from natural and reclaimed local materials, with solar panels for heating.
Six suites, three restored mansions, one spectacularly remote Greek island. Casa Mediterraneo occupies a hillside on the sunset side of Kastellorizo, gazing straight down at the harbour and the Aegean beyond. It rejects the white-and-blue Cycladic playbook entirely — warm terracotta facades, rainbow stained glass, Istanbul rugs, and Turkish hemp fabrics fill rooms that draw on Greek, Ottoman, and Cappadocian design in equal measure. Open May through October only.
