Casa Polanco
Residential luxury meets design gallery. Soothing neutrals, walnut floors, marble bathrooms, and a rotating collection of serious Mexican art including works by Graciela Iturbide. Feels like staying in the home of a wealthy, well-traveled friend who also happens to know every great restaurant in CDMX.
Ask for a room in the older mansion wing — the balconies are deeper, ideal for private al fresco dinners even during rainy season.
Why It Matters
Holds Mexico City's only Michelin Two Keys rating. One of only 19 rooms total, with an all-day complimentary honor bar, included gourmet breakfast, and afternoon mezcalita hour. Staff-to-guest ratio is exceptional, and the art collection alone is worth the stay.
Casa Polanco is exactly what its name promises: a house in Polanco. But calling it a house undersells it. This 19-room boutique hotel occupies two adjoining buildings — a restored 1940s Neocolonial mansion with original stucco ceilings, wrought-iron windows, and a custom Connemara 'Irish Green' marble lobby floor, plus a sleek modernist addition that flows from it seamlessly. The whole thing sits directly across from Parque Lincoln, Mexico City's leafy neighborhood park, and earns Mexico City's only Michelin Two Keys distinction. Nineteen rooms doesn't sound like a lot until you realize that's entirely the point: you get more staff than guests, a genuinely complimentary honor bar stocked with top-shelf tequila and mezcal, and service levels borrowed from British butler training. No pool, and the full-service restaurant only runs at breakfast and afternoon tea — but the best dining in Mexico City is a very short walk away.
