Why It Matters
You're literally sleeping in the home Enric Sagnier designed for himself, the architect responsible for more Modernista buildings in Barcelona than anyone else. The Grand Suite occupies his former ground-floor studio. The building itself was named 'Casa Dolors Vidal de Sagnier' in honour of his wife. That's a layer of authenticity most Barcelona hotels simply can't match.
Casa Sagnier is a 51-room five-star boutique hotel occupying the 1892 building that prolific Modernista architect Enric Sagnier built as his own family home and studio. He designed more than 380 buildings in Barcelona — wrought-iron balconies, ornamental Gothic parapets, and those signature oversized bay windows are all on display on the exterior. Inside, the look shifts to contemporary Scandinavian: pale parquet, oak and black-and-white furniture, sleek stone bathrooms. It was converted to a hotel in 2008 and restored to sharper condition in 2021.

The most distinctive room in the hotel: 61 sqm occupying Enric Sagnier's original ground-floor architect's studio. Huge bay windows — one of the defining features of Sagnier's architectural style — look straight out onto Rambla de Catalunya.
