Casa sull'Albero
Minimalist Italian eco-design meets private villa. Warm natural materials — reclaimed mountain-hut wood worked by Brianza craftsmen, travertine marble bathrooms, parquet floors — but nothing fussy. Quiet and deliberately understated, with a trust-based Honesty Kitchen that sets the tone.

Why It Matters
One of the very few genuinely contemporary, minimalist boutique hotels on Lake Como. Listed in the Michelin Guide. Fully eco-certified: solar and photovoltaic power, underfloor heating and cooling, zero plastic bottles, two Tesla EV chargers on site. The affiliated Da Giovannino restaurant has been in the Michelin Red Guide since 1956.
Casa sull'Albero means 'treehouse,' and the name earns its keep. The whole structure is built from glass and reclaimed local wood, set inside a 3,000 sq m park of centuries-old trees on the Lecco arm of Lake Como. Thirteen rooms across what feels far more like a private villa than a hotel — no grand lobbies, no formal check-in theater, just clean Italian design, a self-serve Honesty Kitchen stocked around the clock with local wines and snacks, a stone outdoor pool, and a personal spa module. Founder Fabio Dadati calls the ethos 'shibumi': the elegance of discreet beauty. It shows.

How you'll actually spend your days.
Staff can advise on cycling routes around the lake and hills, from the classic Tour of Lombardy roads to off-road MTB trails. E-bike rentals available.
The Lecco mountains above the lake are serious terrain — well-known among European climbers. Guides and instructors available upon reservation for trails and climbs of varying difficulty.
Lecco Golf Club is less than 10 minutes' drive from the hotel. Staff can arrange access and tee times.
The hotel keeps a Cranchi E30 Endurance motorboat at a private pier steps from the property. Tours are fully private — up to eight guests from your party, with a captain on board. Six routes available, ranging from 90 minutes to a full day. The signature circuit runs east toward Varenna and Bellagio, passing Villa Monastero and Villa Melzi. Full-day options allow swimming stops, lakeside lunch, and a sunset aperitivo on the water.
Two mapped routes from the hotel: a 10km lakeside path from Malgrate to Caviate, and a 16km ring trail along Lake Garlate and the River Adda.
Yoga sessions available on site, upon arrangement.
