Why It Matters
One of the few places in Corsica where the architecture itself is the attraction. The property is built into the hillside so naturally that the vegetated flat roofs are nearly invisible from below. Each suite is a self-contained stone house. Three small plunge pools are cut directly into the rock face, shared by just a handful of rooms each. Owners Anne and Jean-François conceived and shaped every detail of the place.
Case Latine is a nine-suite, family-run boutique hotel built from local granite on a steep rocky outcrop above the medieval village of Lama in Corsica's Balagne region. The property is designed to look and feel like a small Corsican hamlet — flat-roofed stone houses connected by narrow paths, staircases, and vaulted passages, with three pools carved into the rock and a restaurant terrace all facing the Ostriconi valley. Interiors mix terracotta tile, parquet, linen, wrought iron, and polished concrete in a warm, understated palette. It is a genuinely remote spot: no ATM in town, limited English spoken at breakfast in the off-season, and a precarious access road. But that's the point.
