Why It Matters
Two Michelin Keys for the hotel plus a Michelin Star at The Bishop's Buttery restaurant (regained in 2024, originally held in 1982-83). The estate has a private pathway to the Rock of Cashel, and Coolmore Stud — arguably the world's most famous thoroughbred breeding operation — is 20 minutes away. Guests of note over the years have included Jackie Kennedy, Richard Burton, Elizabeth Taylor, Ronald Reagan, and Princess Diana.
A restored 1732 Palladian manor sitting right below the Rock of Cashel, one of Ireland's most dramatic medieval landmarks. The Magnier family — who also co-own Sandy Lane in Barbados — bought the property and brought it back with a thorough renovation completed in 2022. Now it's a Relais & Châteaux member with a Michelin-starred restaurant, a proper full-service spa, and the kind of equestrian access you can only get in Tipperary's Golden Vale.

Gate Lodge Junior Suite
The only Junior Suite, and it sits at the entrance to the hotel's arrival avenue with a private patio. At 43sqm it's genuinely spacious, and being somewhat detached from the main house gives it a quieter, more private feel. Pets are allowed here.
