Castel Monastero started as an 11th-century village, became a monastery, and spent centuries quietly accumulating history — and wine — in its vaulted Chianti cellars. Today it's a 5-star resort with 68 rooms and suites spread across the beautifully restored medieval hamlet, sitting on a hill 23km from Siena with views of vineyards, cypress rows, and ancient forests in every direction. Canonica Suite
One of the four Signature Suites — historically part of the monastery's canonical quarters, now an intimate hideaway set slightly apart from the main buildings.
Deluxe Room
A step up in size at 32-45 sqm, designed for two with a cot possible. Giant custom wallpapers depicting trees and Tuscan landscapes give these rooms a distinctive look. Living in an actual medieval castle means original stone details are everywhere, and the countryside views from the windows deliver. Many bathrooms have a separate bathtub and shower; some bedrooms are connecting.

A serene bedroom, an elegant lounge area, and then — via a charming spiral staircase — a second sitting room with views over the medieval piazza. One of the more memorable places to sleep in all of Chianti.

The crown jewel for groups or families wanting total privacy. Three bedrooms spread over two levels, plus a spacious light-filled living room that opens onto a terrace with countryside views. The private garden and jacuzzi are the real draw. An internal staircase decorated with frescoes depicting the historic Chigi Saracini coat of arms connects the floors. Each bedroom has an elegant bathroom with double washbasin, bathtub, and separate shower. The kitchenette on the ground floor makes extended stays genuinely comfortable.
