Castelbrac
Historic Belle Époque aristocratic architecture meets Art Deco interiors and a contemporary sea-inspired colour palette. Bold prints, Pierre Frey and Casamance fabrics, original portholes preserved throughout. Quiet, unhurried, and genuinely elegant without being stiff.

Why It Matters
One of only a handful of Michelin-starred hotel restaurants on the Brittany coast. The building has lived multiple dramatic lives — British colonial villa, marine research centre, city aquarium — and the whole property is drenched in that layered history. The private hand-built yacht (Le Fou de Bassan) for exploring the Emerald Coast is a genuinely rare amenity.
Castelbrac is a five-star cliffside hotel in Dinard carved into a 19th-century Belle Époque villa above Prieuré Bay. The building started life in 1872 as Villa Bric-à-Brac, became a marine research station and public aquarium in the 1930s, and is now one of Brittany's most singular places to sleep — every one of its 23 rooms faces the sea. The Michelin-starred restaurant, porthole-lit Aquarium Bar, and private wooden yacht make it far more than a room with a view.

The Clair de Lune promenade runs directly alongside the hotel, offering easy access to Dinard's Belle Époque villa circuit and beaches. The hotel's tour desk can organize guided walking tours.
Electric bikes available for hire from the hotel. A 17km green cycle lane connects Dinard to the surrounding coast. Standard bicycles are also available free of charge.
On-site library available to guests.
Castelbrac's hand-built private wooden yacht takes guests along the Emerald Coast and out toward the Channel Islands. Options include morning discovery cruises (1 hour), half-day trips, beach picnics, and romantic dinners on board. The yacht departs from directly below the hotel. One of the most distinctive activities on offer anywhere on this stretch of coast.
In winter, the belvedere rooftop terrace is transformed into an ice rink. Mulled wine and warm pastries are sold. A genuinely local experience rather than a tourist gimmick.
A small chapel on the property grounds, listed among the hotel's outdoor facilities as a space for spiritual renewal.
Castelbrac's cliffside lane pool overlooks Dinard's Clair de Lune promenade and has direct views of Prieuré Bay. Reserved for hotel guests. A changing room is available above the pool. Open Apr–Sep 8am–9pm; Oct–Mar 9am–7pm. Poolside drinks available in summer.
