Why It Matters
Michelin Guide selection housed in an actual functioning Renaissance university. The thermal pool sits beneath the original cloister arches with Romanesque frescoes — the architecture does the heavy lifting. Featured in Condé Nast Traveler, Vogue, ELLE Decor, National Geographic Viajes, and Hola.
A 16th-century Renaissance university turned four-star spa hotel. The building — the former Universidad de Santa Catalina de Alejandría — was a place of learning for nearly 300 years before Castilla Termal transformed it into one of Soria's most distinctive stays. The original Plateresque façade and stone cloister remain intact, with a dramatic glass ceiling now covering the central courtyard where the bar and restaurant sit. Down a staircase, a dramatically lit subterranean thermal spa taps a genuine mineral-medicinal spring declared of public utility by Spanish authorities.
