Why It Matters
One of Normandy's most architecturally complete château hotels, classified as a Historic Monument and operating as a hotel since 1976. The estate has serious history: the château was built in 1715 on land belonging to William the Conqueror's cook, and served as a Nazi SS headquarters during the Battle of Normandy. Chef Samuel Gaspar's Le Séran is a Michelin-listed and Gault&Millau-recognised restaurant. The D-Day beaches are 30 minutes away.
Château d'Audrieu is an 18th-century castle hotel set on 25 hectares of wooded parkland between Caen and Bayeux in Normandy. It's a listed Historic Monument — origins trace back to the 11th century and William the Conqueror — and a Relais & Châteaux member since 1977. The 29 rooms and suites plus a standalone treehouse blend period fireplaces, silk-draped beds, and hand-picked French tapestries with modern comforts. Dinner at Le Séran is the main event, with Chef Samuel Gaspar sourcing 90% of his produce from within 60km.

Larger than the Tradition rooms at 30–40 sqm, the Deluxe category is spread across the first and second floors of the château and in a private villa 10 metres from the main building. The château's coat of arms is inlaid in the floor — a small but very Château d'Audrieu touch. Can accommodate up to three guests.

At 40–55 sqm, the Junior Suites open onto gardens, the park, or the main courtyard. Period fireplaces and 17th/18th-century-inspired cabinetry give them real weight. Comfortable enough for three guests, with desk space and a proper bathroom with shower or bathtub.

Luxury Tree House
The showstopper. Perched 7 metres up in the trees, this 25 sqm heated cabin for two opens onto a vast 40 sqm panoramic terrace looking out over the English gardens. Wake up to birdsong with no château building in sight. It has a bathtub and full Nespresso setup. Books out fast in summer.

Neoclassical style with period fireplaces, king-size beds, and flamboyant tapestries from Pierre Frey and Manuel Canovas — two of France's most prestigious fabric houses.
