Ground-floor rooms in the Clock Pavilion (Comtesse de la Fayette, Duchesse de Chevreuse) each have a private terrace looking back toward the château — great value upgrade from Classic.

Why It Matters

A registered historic monument with actual 16th-century bones — Renaissance chimneys, hand-carved staircases, and a direct connection to one of France's most dramatic royal conspiracies. Now part of the ChâteauZen Collection after a 2022 ownership change.

A 16th-century château that served as a Protestant stronghold during the 1560 Amboise Conspiracy, now a 17-room hotel sitting on a 24-hectare estate of manicured French gardens, woodland, and Vouvray vineyards. The rooms are split between the main château and the adjacent Clock Pavilion, and the whole place leans into its history: think antique furniture, canopy beds, and stained-glass windows. It's a genuine castle stay, not a theme-park version of one.
