Château de Valmer
Low-key Provençal elegance with genuine family character. Not a design hotel — more like staying at a very well-kept country estate where the food happens to be Michelin-starred. Organic, garden-to-table ethos. Adults and families both welcome. The grounds do most of the talking.
Request a Superior Room overlooking the vegetable garden (potager) — reviewers repeatedly call these the most atmospheric
Why It Matters
One Michelin star at La Palmeraie restaurant (Chef Alexandre Fabris, 2025–2026). Family-owned for over 75 years by the same family. Famous tree-house cabins perched in century-old oak trees. Private beach access at sister property La Pinède Plage, 400m away along a palm-lined path. Own organic vineyard producing estate rosé. Relais & Châteaux member.
A family-owned bastide on the quieter side of the Saint-Tropez peninsula, Château de Valmer has been run by the Rocchietta-Montloin family since 1949 — first as a guesthouse, now as a five-star Relais & Châteaux property. Set in five hectares of organic vineyards, century-old palm groves, and kitchen gardens, it sits 400 metres from Gigaro beach and about 15 minutes from the Saint-Tropez circus. The contrast is the whole point.
