Château des Alpilles
Romantic, discreet-luxury Provençal estate. Period antiques in the manor; contemporary rustic-chic in the outbuildings. Unhurried and intimate, with serious cooking.
Reserve dinner in advance — the restaurant draws non-guests and tables fill up, especially in high season
Why It Matters
The only historic château in St-Rémy open to overnight guests. Literary and political luminaries — Lamartine, Guizot, Thiers — were regulars here in the 19th century. Now run by the third generation of the Bon/Rollin family, with a Michelin-recognized kitchen under chef Mathias Bettinger.
The only château in Saint-Rémy-de-Provence that takes overnight guests. A long avenue of century-old plane trees leads you to this 19th-century manor house, set in a seven-hectare park alongside a medieval farmhouse, chapel, and stone wash house. Three generations of the Bon/Rollin family have run it since 1979 — and that family-hotel feeling is very much the point.
