Why It Matters
Occupied by its original owner's family until 2011, the château's former bedrooms still have marble fireplaces, gilded mirrors, and arched wooden doorways. You can cycle the vineyard paths in the morning and sit down to a tasting menu that evening. The infinity pool looking out over the vines is genuinely stunning.
A 19th-century working wine estate on 200 acres of Languedoc countryside, about 20km north of Béziers. The château itself holds 8 hotel rooms, while 36 self-catering properties — converted from original estate outbuildings — are scattered around the grounds. It runs its own label (Vignobles Bonfils), operates a Cinq Mondes spa, and keeps a full-service restaurant open 365 days a year. Think of it less as a hotel and more as a private club that happens to make wine.
